(2024-present) Research on market consolidation and environmental impact: evidence from the Brazilian meatpacking industry – this project aims to investigate how concentration on the Brazilian meatpacking industry impacted production and producers. The focus is to investigate local price effects and lack of investments leading to deforestation in some spotted areas.

 

(2023-present) Research on strategic management and leadership in beef cattle production as a driver to social responsibility and rentability – this project aims to study the Brazilian producer in the beef cattle supply chain. The focus is to understand strategic decision-making and connect with sustainability practices, leadership, productivity, and rents. Beef cattle production is the main intensive in land use in Brazil and beef cattle production faces (system) several challenges in reducing carbon emissions and climate change targets.

 

(2023-present) Research on traceability and environmental (incentives/barriers) to trade – this project aims to study the Brazilian beef cattle supply chain and their difficulties in establishing traceability and transparency to the market as new international rules about deforestation advance in developed countries, as well as China.

 

(2020-present) Research on sustainability standards in soybean and mining industries in Argentina, Brazil, and Canada – this project aims to study the government's role in the adoption of sustainable standards and approach differences between the level of institutional environment and the play they role in this process.

 

1. Soybean and mining industries are mostly known as commodities by the market and sustainability plays a large role in their activities as they are land intensive.

Natural resources industries are largely related to sustainability and poorly approached by management and strategy researchers as they are considered intermediated products. This research uncovers a gap in several kinds of literature as it brings emerging markets perspective as they are global players.
